KARACHI: Minister Health Sindh Dr Sikandar Mandharo summoned a meeting on Monday to take an initiative to use mobile phone technology to improve governance and accountability of the field force.
Series of meetings were conducted with the relevant experts including the teams of Aga Khan Development Network Health Resource Centre and the Indus Hospital.
The Minister Health said that it is fascinating to use technology in health sector and I am hopeful that prevention of diseases will improve significantly.
He also indicated that the hospital staff, including the doctors and the other human resources under Sindh health department, are to be monitored and made accountable.
The Indus hospital team lead by Dr Akhtar Aziz also presented their inputs for smart phone monitoring and the use of QR codes on health cards to detect the history of patients through the data servers.
The Minister asked both teams to submit final proposals. He directed the department to conclude recommendations and make a decision to implement the smart phone monitoring system as soon as possible.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary Health Ahmed Bux Narejo, Director General Health Sindh, Dr Hassan Murad shah, Director PPI Unit Dr Ahsaan and others.
