ISLAMABAD: The total registered voters in the country are expected to number over 90.7 million after completion of the on-going voters’ lists verification process, said an Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) official.
He said that the second phase of ‘Electoral Rolls’ verification would conclude by October 10 for which display centres at over 11,500 places across the country have been established.
He said that the update process started from September 20 and voters have to visit their nearest display centre or the registration officer’s office for transfer, exclusion, correction or enrolment of their votes.
A voter can check their vote location by sending a message containing the Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number to 8300.
According to ECP, over 95% verification processes has been completed in Punjab, over 91% in Sindh, 96% in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 95% in Balochistan and over 92% in Islamabad. The commission also states that the country has a total 90.31 million registered voters, presently – 40.08 million females and 50.24 million males.
According to the breakup, Punjab has a total 50.3824 million registered voters of which 20.36 million are females and 30.02 million males. Sindh has at least 8.99 million female and 10.11 million male voters – making a total of 20.13 million registered voters. Likewise, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has a total of 10.34 million registered voters including 5.74 million female and 7.63 million male voters.
In Balochistan, there are 3.33 million total registered voters including 1.42 million female and 1.91 million male voters and (Federally Administered Tribal Areas) FATA’s 1,722,304 registered voters include 593,164 females and 1,129,140 males. In Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), there are a total of 684,824 registered voters of which 3,174,264 are females and 370,560 are males.
