KARAK: Police on Wednesday arrested three carjackers and recovered a stolen vehicle and Rs 1.5 million from them, District Police Officer Mian Naseeb Jan told the media.
Addressing a press conference at his office, the DPO said the vehicle belonged to a Chinese oil and gas exploration company. He said the accountant of the company was involved in the robbery and carjacking.
Divulging the details, the official said that accountant Fahimullah was bringing salaries of company employees amounting to Rs 1.5 million when armed men stopped the vehicle in the Sabirabad area. They snatched the vehicle as well as cash from the accountant and fled, said the police official.
The DPO said that police nabbed the robbers in the Sabirabad area hours after the incident. He said that police had taken into custody three men, including Shaheen, a former accountant of the company who was sacked on charges of corruption. The arrested man pointed to involvement of incumbent accountant Fahimullah in the robbery. Later, the police arrested Fahimullah and registered a case against him.
