PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday made Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif a point of his tirade for being evasive to the questions hurled at him by the public in the wake of Panama leaks.
While addressing a PTI held rally in Peshawar in the back drop of Panama leaks, he said that path towards prosperity lay in honesty instead of building roads and bridges. He said that the prime minister had been feigning himself as a victim instead of presenting himself for accountability. He said that as Pakistan’s second largest party, it was the duty of the PTI to ask the prime minister about how his children acquired so much money.
He chastised the prime minister for having hands-on approach on National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other institutions. He said that Nawaz had no moral authority to run the government at present. He burst upon the prime minister for touring other countries instead of presenting himself for accountability like the leaders in Iceland and United Kingdom.
Imran said that a corrupt leader undermined a country by destabilising institutions of the country. He challenged Nawaz Sharif that the Khyber Pakhthunkhwa (KP) government was bringing new law for accountability. He said that a Pakhtunkhwa minister has been held accountable for the very first time in the history.
The PTI chairman also took a jibe at JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman for his support to Prime Minister Nawarz Sharif on Panama papers and for his smear compaign against him in which he had been declared by the latter as a Jew at a public rally. He said that he would announce a rally in Bannu on Wednesday.
Imran said that foundation of ‘Naya Pakistan’ had been laid down by tigers of Pakththunkhwa. He said that prior to the PTI government in Khyber Pakhthunkhwa, the province was the most corrupt but, according to Transparency International, it was the least corrupt.
He said that he was ashamed to hear of what happened to a girl in Abbottabad, but was proud of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police for arresting all killers. He said that KP police had apprehended killers of Sardar Soran Singh within 24 hours.
